How FOKIQ Works — Free Daily Brain Puzzles

Takes just 2 minutes a day

FOKIQ is a free daily brain puzzle game you can play online with no download. Test 6 cognitive domains in about 2 minutes, then compare your score with players worldwide on global leaderboards.

The Daily Challenge

Each day at midnight UTC, FOKIQ generates 5 puzzles deterministically from a daily seed. All players see the same puzzles in the same order. Five of the six cognitive domains are randomly selected each day — one sits out, creating variable reward mechanics that keep you engaged.

6 Cognitive Domains

Pattern Recognition

Identify regularities, complete sequences, solve matrices, spot the odd one out, and predict shape transformations. 4 sub-modes.

Memory

Test your working memory with symbol recall, sequence replay, pair matching, and spatial flash tasks. 4 sub-modes.

Spatial Reasoning

Mentally rotate objects, identify mirror images, predict fold results, and match silhouettes. 4 sub-modes.

Speed Processing

React quickly with rapid odd-one-out, counting, change detection, and sorting challenges. 15-second time limit. 4 sub-modes.

Logical Deduction

Solve constraint puzzles, sudoku-style grids, set logic problems, and balance equations. 30-second time limit. 4 sub-modes.

Language Skills

Unscramble words, build chains, solve anagrams, complete analogies, and match rhymes. 5 sub-modes.

Scoring Formula

Each puzzle is worth up to 100 points. Your total GRID score has a maximum of 500 (5 puzzles × 100).

Puzzle Score = Speed (60%) + Accuracy (40%)

Speed score = (1 − timeUsed/maxTime) × 60

Accuracy score = correctness × 40

Combo multipliers reward consecutive correct answers. Starting at 2 in a row, your multiplier increases: 2 combo = 1.1x, 3 = 1.2x, 4 = 1.3x, 5+ = up to 1.8x. A wrong answer or timeout resets the combo.

Adaptive Difficulty

FOKIQ tracks your accuracy per domain and adjusts puzzle difficulty to target approximately 70% success rate. This is the scientifically optimal zone for learning — challenging enough to promote neural growth, but not so hard that it becomes frustrating.

Base difficulty increases gradually with puzzle day number, so the game grows harder over weeks.

7 Game Modes

  • Daily Challenge — 5 puzzles, same for everyone, global leaderboard
  • Practice — Replay with fresh random puzzles, no leaderboard impact
  • Training — Focus on your weakest domain with targeted exercises
  • Endless — 3 lives, increasing difficulty until you're eliminated
  • Sprint — 60-second time trial, solve as many as possible
  • Duel — Challenge a friend head-to-head on the same puzzles
  • Tournament — Weekly 8-player brackets with elimination rounds

MindMap

Your MindMap is a hexagonal radar chart showing performance across all 6 domains. A perfectly balanced MindMap means equal strength everywhere. Use it to identify weaknesses and focus your training.

Streaks & Milestones

Complete the daily challenge on consecutive days to build your streak. Milestones unlock at 3, 7, 14, 30, 50, and 100 days with special badges. You earn 1 streak freeze that protects against a single missed day, with additional freezes every 7 days played (max 3).

XP & Levels

XP is calculated as: GRID Score + Bonus Points + (Max Combo × 5). Your level follows a quadratic formula: Level = floor(sqrt(totalXP / 100)). Each new level requires increasingly more XP, creating a satisfying long-term progression.

Skill Tiers

Based on your domain mastery scores, you earn tier classifications: Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Expert, and Master. Each domain can be at a different tier, reflecting your unique cognitive profile.
